De Leon ISD is thrilled to announce and officially welcome Brennan Whitaker as the new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at De Leon High School. A native of Iowa Park, Texas, Coach Whitaker is a 2014 graduate of Iowa Park High School, where he was a standout multi-sport athlete. After a brief stint playing college baseball, he shifted his focus to football, earning four varsity letters as a quarterback at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. While at Friends, he completed both his bachelor’s degree in physical education and his master’s degree in education.
Coach Whitaker brings a strong background in leadership and program development, with coaching experience at Tioga, Hamilton, Southlake Carroll, and Birdville High School. His diverse coaching background has helped him develop a comprehensive and competitive approach to athletics, emphasizing character, discipline, and hard work both on and off the field.
Brennan and his wife Megan, a Glen Rose native and cardiac nurse at Dallas Children’s Hospital, were married in 2023. They are proud parents to their 7-month-old daughter, Clemson Blake. The Whitaker family is excited to become part of the De Leon community and looks forward to building a culture of excellence in Bearcat and Lady Cat athletics.
